From the Desk of Bjorn Kinding, Headmaster                       Janaury 13, 2011

Greetings from the Staff of College Harrington du Canada,

Wow, the holiday break came and went and all of the students have safely returned to Harrington. It is great to have them back on campus and they all seem to have a renewed burst of enthusiasm. The mental and physical break was well needed for students and staff. As they prepare for a grueling hockey season and final exams, they will definitely need that extra bit of energy.

The Oka landscape is white with snow and all of the students are now officially wearing their winter gear. Quebec is a winter wonderland that really comes to life in this season. There is skiing and snowboarding nearby, and at the beautiful Parc d’ Oka, snowshoeing and cross country skiing are popular. Some of the students have discovered the nearby outdoor rink in Oka and spend some of their leisure time there. The Harrington students are like celebrity skaters. Young children from the community love to watch the Harrington students skate and are always amazed by their skating and puck handling skills. It is nice to see young people looking up to our student athletes. They are making such a great impression on the kids in the community.

The hockey schedule is full for this week and the weekend ahead. Many games are scheduled and even some extra practices are on the lineup. Please attend as many of the games as possible and support the teams. It is so important to our athletes to see families in the stands.

Final exams are on the schedule and will begin in less than two weeks. Teachers are preparing students and encouraging good study habits daily. From home, please talk to your child about making good choices with their free time and encourage extra study time in place of computer/internet time and gaming. These choices will help dictate their final semester grades and we of course would like them to have the best final grades on their report cards.

Over the break, the halls were quite, dark, and very somber. Now they are busy, energetic, and full of life, and you cannot avoid looking forward to the semester ahead.

Sincerely,

Bjorn
