From the Desk of Bjorn Kinding, Headmaster                                   March 25, 2011

Greetings from the Staff of College Harrington du Canada,

Tuesday was the first day of spring and in Oka, with it came a blast of cold and another wintry mix!  Snow blanketed the enormous pine and fir trees on the Harrington Campus, and if you weren’t paying attention, you may think that the Christmas break is approaching, not the Spring break.  The snow didn’t last long, but it was still below freezing most days this week.  As I talk with parents to our south, they are already enjoying, spring flowers, budding trees, and much warmer weather. Life isn’t fair!

Spring beak is officially less than 2 weeks away and the students are talking about their plans for the holidays.  Some have elaborate vacation plans and others are looking forward to returning home to sleep, watch some television and have some home-cooked food.  Whatever the plans are, it is a much needed rest from hockey, school, and the intense schedule at HCC.

There’s a new buzz on Campus, the Saturday Fundraising Event!   The students have named our efforts to aid our Japanese friends, “A Helping Hand for Japan.” It is rewarding to see the students coming together and realizing, that together they can make a difference!  Click Here

Parents that are within driving distance please join all of the students at the event on Saturday and help us to raise money for the relief fund.  Call the people that you know in the area and invite them to attend as well.  And if you are in the mood to spend a little time in the kitchen, please prepare and donate an item for the bake sale!

The Event will start prior to the College AAA Game on Saturday, and the bake sale will be in the arena beginning at 4pm.

Game time is 6: oo pm.  Hockey Director, Martin Daoust, ask everyone to support the College Team in the playoffs and support the efforts of our staff, students, and volunteers to give “A helping hand to Japan”.

For those of you who are unable to attend the event or donate at the door, please consider making a donation to the Red Cross Japananese Relief Fund, on behalf of the Students of Harrington.  You may visit our website and click on the Red Cross Button.  Remember that small donations are welcome.

TEAM: Together Everyone Achieves More!

Sincerely,

Bjorn Kinding
