From the Desk of Bjorn Kinding, Headmaster                                   February 10, 2011

Greetings from the Staff of College Harrington du Canada,

The cold snap in Quebec has now passed and we are left with normal temperatures.  The groundhog did not see his shadow this year, so there is hope for an early spring.
At the college, we don’t have much time to enjoy the mild weather, anyway. With the regular hockey season in its end-phase, all our teams playing several tournaments, and a new semester with new classes, it is quite a busy time.

This week alone, there are 14 games in our hockey program, which is the second busiest week of the season.  Juggling students, coaches, and teachers, and coordinating schedules is quite an act.

The staff is doing a fantastic job, providing make-up dates and sessions, and the students are stepping up as well.  A big thanks to everybody for their flexibility.

Bantam BB finished up the Montreal Est Tournament with a fantastic team effort. Despite missing several key players, the team believed in themselves and fought heroically. Backed up by Leo Fenely in the net, who stood on his head and kept the score at a 1-0 lead, until .2 seconds remained in the game. The 1-1 final score is still a good finish to a great tournament.

Meanwhile, the Bantam AA had a fine start to the St-Eustache Tournament. It will be exciting to follow their progress. Let’s cheer them on!

Last Tuesday, College Harrington du Canada attended the QMJHL game at L’Auditorium de Verdun. This outing included a private chat with Oliver Dame-Malka, a HCC graduate, and a chance to see Louis Leblanc, a Montréal Canadiens’ 1st round draft pick, as Junior Montréal played against Lewiston MAINEiacs. All of our students attended the event, in which approximately 40 other schools attended as well.  This was the first time, this season, where the entire student body was at the same place at the same time, outside the school.  All students, dressed in their school uniform, made quite the statement as they filled a section of the arena.

For those of you that live nearby our school or perhaps plan on visiting us this weekend, wrap up and get to the arenas this weekend.  We have many games to attend and cheering parents are always needed and appreciated!  See you at the rink!

Sincerely,

Bjorn
